What Type of Key Fob Do You Have?: There are two types of key fobs your vehicle may utilize: the newer Chrome SmartKey® or the older SmartKey®. The type of key you have will slightly change the process for switching out the battery.
Choose the Proper Replacement Battery: The Chrome SmartKey® needs one CR2025 battery, while the older SmartKey® style requires two.
Replacing the Newer Chrome SmartKey®: For the newer style of Chrome SmartKey®, simply pull the tab at the bottom of the fob, remove the casing by pushing the key into the narrow end of the slot, then remove the old battery and replace it with the new battery.
Replacing the Older SmartKey®: Pelham drivers with an older SmartKey® will pull the latch at the end of the key fob casing, push the key horizontally into the open slot, then lift the old batteries out of their compartment and set the two new ones in place.
